All five of the schools that Invest in Youth serves are special and unique, reflecting the richness and diversity of each surrounding community. Please note that due to the Seattle Public Schools bell time changes for the 2016-2017 school year, our tutoring schedule has changed since last year. 

Roxhill Elementary – Mondays 2:30 – 3:30

Roxhill Elementary School, located in West Seattle near the Westwood Village shopping center, is a full-service community school that believes partnerships with community-based organizations and parent involvement are two key components to a well-rounded and successful education. Roxhill strives to empower and inspire all students to be life-long learners and to be significant and successful contributors to our changing global society. 3:30-4:30 = One-on-One Tutoring Program

Madrona is a small community-centric school, focusing on the needs of each individual student. Scholars at Madrona are encouraged to develop academic skills and goals aimed toward the future, to appreciate diversity, and to reach their potential intellectually, physically and emotionally. The school is located in the heart of the Madrona neighborhood and is a straight shot from downtown on the #2 or #3 bus line.

Beacon Hill International School – Tuesdays 2:05 – 4:10

3:10-4:10 = One-on-One Tutoring Program

At BHIS, you will encounter “a world of learners,” where students speak a wide range of languages and represent a variety of cultures. Emphasis is placed on literacy at BHIS, where English Language Learners work hard to master their reading and writing skills and the curriculum integrates global perspectives, multicultural literature, world economics, global health, as well as international arts. Our on-site coordinator at BHIS, Judy Eng, has cultivated an especially wonderful community of learners and mentors here!

Daniel Bagley Elementary – Thursdays 2:15 – 4:25

3:25-4:25 = One-on-One Tutoring Program

Located in Seattle’s Green Lake community, Daniel Bagley offers students and families a choice between a Contemporary model of curriculum or a Montessori program. Many tutors find that the students at Daniel Bagley are highly motivated and enthusiastic learners. Both students and tutors benefit from a greater level of support and input from teachers and parents than is generally available at the other Invest in Youth partner schools.

Thurgood Marshall Elementary – Thursdays 3:55 – 4:55

Thurgood Marshall Elementary is unique in that it serves a wide range of students, from a variety of cultures, social and economic backgrounds, as well as academic levels. Invest in Youth’s program at Thurgood Marshall is focused on supporting students who are not participants in the school’s Accelerated Progress Program (APP). IIY students at TM tend to bring a high level of enthusiasm and charisma to the tutoring experience! Thurgood Marshall is located in the Central District just off of I-90.

* Seattle Public Schools (SPS) Segmentation Level ranks schools from low (1) to high (5) based on performance and year-to-year growth. Schools with lower scores receive more directed interventions and oversight from the district, while higher-scoring schools have more autonomy in terms of spending and professional development.
