Harriet Morton – Founder

Ms. Morton founded Invest in Youth in 1997 while a broker and investment advisor at Morton Clarke Fu & Metcalf. She is now a community volunteer with a B.A. in Chemistry and German and a teaching certificate from the University of Missouri. Ms. Morton also participates in the League of Women Voters, Washington Women’s Foundation and chairs the Development Committee for Invest in Youth.

Tom Preston – Chair

Mr. Preston tutored for Invest in Youth for several years. He is the Director of Client Services and Human Resources at Brighton Jones LLC. Mr. Preston earned a B.A. in Economics from Fordham University and serves on the Communications and Strategic Development Committees.

Dean Torkelson – Treasurer

Mr. Torkelson retired in 2014 after 20 years at Seattle-First National Bank (including corporate Treasurer for five years) and 27 years at Seattle-Northwest Securities (including CEO for eleven years). He holds a BA in Economics from Willamette University and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.He has been a tutor and Board Member of Invest in Youth since 2013.

Breanna Toyne – Secretary

Breanna Toyne works in Human Resources for E.K. Riley Investments, LLC in the Seattle office. She started working with E.K. Riley in 2007. She began volunteering with IIY in 2012 and joined the board in 2014. Breanna graduated from the University of Washington in 2006.

Charles Augello

Mr. Augello began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2013 and joined the board in 2015. He currently works as a software developer. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College. He currently serves on the communications and golf committees.

Brad Ogura – Vice Chair

Brad Ogura began tutoring in 2010 and is a member of Invest in Youth’s development committee. He currently serves as vice president, marketing and investor relations at Puget Sound Bank, a role that also includes managing the Bank’s community outreach. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association’s Discipline Selection Panel and is a former Disciplinary Board member, both State Supreme Court appointments. In addition, he is a former trustee of the Washington Biotech Foundation, a non-profit formed to provide additional science resources to middle-school teachers. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Puget Sound.

Kerry Oldenburg

Ms. Oldenburg began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2008. She worked as the Director of Product Management for Prime Alliance Solutions, Inc. Ms. Oldenburg earned an associate degree from Clark College, Certificate in Project Management from the University of Washington and is a graduate of the MBA’s School of Mortgage Banking, Northwestern University. Her professional career spans 30 years in mortgage lending and technology solutions.

Jackie Prideaux

Ms. Prideaux is a Senior Analyst at Brighton Jones, a comprehensive wealth management firm in Seattle. She graduated from Marquette University in 2007 with degrees in Economics and International Politics and volunteered abroad in the Peace Corps before making the move to Seattle. In 2013, she began tutoring for Invest in Youth and joined the board in 2015.

Patty Rose

Ms. Rose is a retired school librarian with degrees from Colorado College, WWU and UW. She is excited to continue her interest in working with children, literacy and books for kids. She is serving as a tutor and Chair of the Development Committee.

Nicole Schafer

Nicole started tutoring with Invest in Youth in 2007 and joined the board in 2014 where she became involved in the golf committee and chairs the thinkLOCAL event committee. Outside of Invest in Youth, Ms. Schafer is a Financial Advisor with the Puget Sound Group at Morgan Stanley, a team which acts as personal CFO to successful entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses.

Nicole Palmiter
Rebecca Sosinski

Ms. Sosinski worked for Invest in Youth as a Program Director from 2007-2011. She is a community volunteer and a mother. Ms. Sosinski has a B.A. in English from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and a Master’s in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University. During her three years studying in Illinois, she served as a volunteer teacher for Inner City Teaching Corps. As a corps member, Ms. Sosinski taught kindergarten, first and second grade in Chicago. She currently chairs the Program Committee and acts as the creative consultant for Invest in Youth.

Marisa Walker

Ms. Walker began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2012. She is a Senior Vice President and Financial Advisor with R.W. Baird. Her team assists individuals and families in organizing their assets and planning for their future, through financial planning services and customized investment management strategies. Ms. Walker earned her BA at the University of Washington, received an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from the Albers School of Business and Economics at Seattle University, and subsequently earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. Ms. Walker grew up in Seattle, is a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow and also serves as a Trustee for the Seattle Repertory Theatre. In 2002, Ms. Walker co-founded an annual wine auction – VINE! – to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County, which she continues to run each year. In 2004, Ms. Walker was recognized as a “40 Under 40” by the Puget Sound Business Journal.

Jill T. Hearne, Ph.D.

Dr. Hearne is a retired teacher, principal and central office administrator for Federal Way Public Schools, Seattle Public Schools and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of Washington. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Washington, serves on the Program Committee and has been a Board member for several years.

Coleen Anderson

Ms. Anderson began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 1998. She is currently retired and has degrees from Washington State University and the University of Washington. She was a licensed security professional at various stock brokerage firms from 1970 – 2007.

Kathy Bremner

Ms. Bremner is a former Invest in Youth tutor who joined the board in 2013. She spent most of her 35-year career as a journalist working at The Seattle Times. She is a past president of the Mercer Island Community Fund and is serving as board treasurer of the Mercer Island Country Club. She graduated from the University of Oregon.

Kevin M. Clouse

Mr. Clouse began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2000. He is a Certified Financial Planner Professional and Second Vice President in the Wealth Management division at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Mr. Clouse earned a B.S. in Business, Finance from the University of Idaho.

Mona Delgado – former Chair

Ms. Delgado began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2000 and has now tutored at four of the Invest in Youth schools. She is the Regional Supervisory Manager for D.A. Davidson and has an M.S. in Speech Communications from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. Ms. Delgado also serves on the Development Committee.

Sara E. Hasan, CFA – former Chair

Ms. Hasan began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2004. She is a Vice President in equity research at McAdams Wright Ragen and has a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Sara is also a member of the CFA Society of Seattle and the North Beacon Hill Council. She previously served on the Advisory Board of YouthForce. She chairs the Recruitment Committee and serves on the Development Committee.

Laura Orser

Ms. Orser began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2003. She is a community volunteer and has a B.A. in French Literature from Skidmore College. In an earlier professional career, she was a paralegal specializing in Estate Planning and Probate for 24 years. Ms. Orser recently joined the Rainier Scholars Board and also chairs the Finance Committee.

Leonard Rosoff, Jr., M.D.

Dr. Rosoff began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2006. He is a community volunteer and has a B.A. from Carleton College and a M.D. from the University of California School of Medicine. During his career as a physician, Dr. Rosoff practiced at The Mason Clinic specializing in hepatology. He is chairman of the Program Committee.

Nora Tabler

Ms. Tabler began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2009. She is a community volunteer and has a B.A. from Gonzaga University and an M.P.A. from Seattle University. Her working career included being executive director for the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers and a fundraiser for the Seattle Aquarium. Other organizations she volunteers for are RSVP, City Club and Antioch University. Ms. Tabler chairs the Communications Committee.
