Board

Harriet Morton – Founder

Ms. Morton founded Invest in Youth in 1997 while a broker and investment advisor at Morton Clarke Fu & Metcalf. She received a B.A. in Chemistry and German with a teaching certificate from the University of Missouri. Ms. Morton currently chairs the Governance Committee.

Brad Ogura – Chair

Brad Ogura began tutoring in 2010 and is a member of Invest in Youth’s development committee. He currently serves as vice president, marketing and investor relations at Puget Sound Bank, a role that also includes managing the Bank’s community outreach. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association’s Discipline Selection Panel and is a former Disciplinary Board member, both State Supreme Court appointments. In addition, he is a former trustee of the Washington Biotech Foundation, a non-profit formed to provide additional science resources to middle-school teachers. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Puget Sound.

Dean Torkelson – Treasurer

Mr. Torkelson retired in 2014 after 20 years at Seattle-First National Bank (including corporate Treasurer for five years) and 27 years at Seattle-Northwest Securities (including CEO for eleven years). He holds a BA in Economics from Willamette University and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.He has been a tutor and Board Member of Invest in Youth since 2013.

Breanna Toyne – Secretary

Breanna Toyne works in Human Resources for E.K. Riley Investments, LLC in the Seattle office. She started working with E.K. Riley in 2007. She began volunteering with IIY in 2012 and joined the board in 2014. Breanna graduated from the University of Washington in 2006.

Charles Augello

Mr. Augello began tutoring for Invest in Youth in 2013 and joined the board in 2015. He currently works as a software developer. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College. He currently serves on the communications and golf committees.

Jackie Prideaux

Ms. Prideaux is a Senior Analyst at Brighton Jones, a comprehensive wealth management firm in Seattle. She graduated from Marquette University in 2007 with degrees in Economics and International Politics and volunteered abroad in the Peace Corps before making the move to Seattle. In 2013, she began tutoring for Invest in Youth and joined the board in 2015.

Patty Rose

Ms. Rose is a retired school librarian with degrees from Colorado College, WWU and UW. She is excited to continue her interest in working with children, literacy and books for kids. She is serving as a tutor and Chair of the Development Committee.

Nicole Schafer

Nicole started tutoring with Invest in Youth in 2007 and joined the board in 2014 where she became involved in the golf committee and chairs the thinkLOCAL event committee. Outside of Invest in Youth, Ms. Schafer is a Financial Advisor with the Puget Sound Group at Morgan Stanley, a team which acts as personal CFO to successful entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses.

Ethan Waterman

Mr. Waterman is a Financial Advisor with Baird. He graduated from Marquette University with a B.S. in Finance and Marketing. He currently serves on the Development Committee for Invest in Youth and also serves as the Admissions Chair for Marquette University in Washington State.

Emily Breese
Recently Emily worked as an Addictions Counselor at an outpatient treatment center in Seattle and also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for the King County Superior Court. These pursuits followed a successful career as a Librarian and Information Specialist, receiving her Masters in Library Science from the University of Michigan. Emily began tutoring in 2012 and joined the board in 2016. Emily Breese for IIY
Sheena Nikolaus
As a Sponsorship Consultant, Sheena Nikolaus is the point person on key RBC WM-U.S. corporate sponsorship projects. Before joining RBC, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and later earned her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis.

After moving to Seattle in 2012, Sheena became an active member of the Junior League of Seattle. She serves on the “Done in a Day” committee to pair community partners in need of volunteers with members of the Junior League.

Angela Arms
Angela works for Accenture Financial Services, where she manages the Technical Training and Documentation team supporting Lenders nationwide. Her passion for education and community drew her to Invest in Youth where she serves on the board, applying her time and efforts to Recruiting and Communication, elevating the mission of the organization.
Marshall Kneeland

Mr. Kneeland retired in 2015 after a 39 year career in municipal finance. After receiving a B.A. in Business from Oregon State University, he went to work for U.S. National Bank of Oregon. This was followed by a move in 1980 to Foster and Marshall, where he spent the next 25 years growing with the firm with multiple mergers into Citibank. In 2005, he joined the small regional firm McAdams Wright Ragen  Inc. He joined the Invest In Youth board in 2016.

Mike Hartmann

Mr. Hartmann currently works for Microsoft in the role of Industry Marketing Development Manager. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Michigan and his MBA at Wayne State University. He has been a tutor with Invest in Youth since 2010.

Cate Nied

Ms. Nied currently works for Federated Investors as a Regional Sales Consultant. Federated Investors is one of the nation’s largest investment managers offering equity, international, fixed income, alternative and money market strategies. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, and she has been a tutor with Invest in Youth since 2014.

Jill T. Hearne, Ph.D.

Dr. Hearne is a retired teacher, principal and central office administrator for Federal Way Public Schools, Seattle Public Schools and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of Washington. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Washington, serves on the Program Committee and has been a Board member for several years.
